Middletown remained his home throughout his life, and h e w as o ne of i ts foremost citizens. He was the owner of a n ext ensive landed pr opert y, and was a successful farmer. Felix Peckham was a vital factor in civic and religious af f airs in Mid dl etown until his death. A man of strong convi ct ions, and deep religio us b elief, he was an important mem be r of the First Baptist Church of Ne wpo rt for moretha n a hal f century, active in its work and a liberal d on or t o all it s undertakings. He carried the principles of his C hri st ia n belief into his life and his relations with his f ell ow me n. He w as a strong uplifting force for good in th e communit y, a nd was eminent ly respected and loved. Mr. Peckham died in Middletown, R. I., at the venerable a g e of eighty -t wo years. He was married to Tryphena Stockman on 19 Nov 1786 in New p ort, Newp or t, RI. Married by Elder Benjamin Foster Tryphena Stockman, daughter of Jacob Stockman, of Middlet o w n, R. I. w as born on 9 Sep 1765. She died on 16 Feb 185 1 i n Middletow n, Newport, R I.
