a. Note:   Buried in Arlington National Cemetary - Section 6, Grave 9248
  After graduation from Colorado University (member of Kappa Sigma fraternity), Arts and Science degree, joined the Colorado National Guard (where Col. Newlon was Adjutant General) and was assigned to the Army Air Service from the guard. Received his training at March Field CA, and Kelly Field, TX. Received his commision in January, 1930. Served at Fort Crockett, TX, and Wheeler Field, Hawaii,, and studied at the Army school at Rantoul, IL.
  Was Photographic Officer at Fort Bragg and was killed while on a photographic mission within a mile from the base. Lt. Lewis E. Countway was flying the plane and was also killed. Accident occurred shortly after noon about 4 miles from Pope Field near the edge of the Overhills Estate on the north side of the Little river. (Fayetteville Observer, 21 January, 1938)
  Survived by his mother, of Atoka, OK
