Was a mason.
"I believe that Scratch hill was named after Mr S. B. Scratch who came to
Atoka in the 1880's. He owned a lumber yard which later became V. S. Cook
Lumber Company and the Hutchinson Lumber. My father was manger of this
lumber co for 56 years and retired in 1984. His claim to fame was that he
ran the lumber yard until it was 100 years old. There is a "gold mine" on
Scratch Hill where we used to take the girls when in high school...."
