a. Note:   David, b. 1850,. VT, m1) Rachel Hoff, m2) Martha Sinkey, he pioneered in MT. David was at least a fellow traveler with Eli Edwards, if not his son. Some family records list him as eldest son, while others omit him, perhaps because he and Elijah were born in the same yr. in different states. He apparently lived in Delaware Co. OH, 1820-1842, then moved to Jackson Co. IA. 1850 census lists him there as aged 67, wife, Martha, aged 60, both born VT, children ranging in age nine to two yrs old. 1830 census of OH. shows him as 30/40 yrs old, 1840 census, age 40/50. The names of his wives were recorded by the dau. Margaretta Conklin. They are said to be buried on a mountain side nr. Butte, MT. The Jackson Co. IA. land records show David Edwards bought 160 acres of land from Roswell P. Abel for $250.00, the deed was not recorded until Nov. 1853., when he sold it to his son, No further record in IA.
