Note: "Mrs. Lucinda Edwards passed away last Thursday, Aug. 21st. Mrs. Edwards would have been 85 yrs old had she lived until Sept. 15. Funeral services were held at the Wilson-Hull Funeral Home at Sat. 23 Aug, at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Arthur Dyson, Pastor of the Methodist Church. The music was rendered by Miss Edna Lee, accompanied by Mrs. Bessie Hatfield. Miss Lee sang, "Sometime We Will Understand" and "The Last Mile of the Way." the flowers were cared for by Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and Mrs. Elvin Heath and the cars were arranged by Cleve Robinson. Grandsons of Mrs. Edwards acted as pallbearers and burial was in the Correctionville cemetery. Lucinda Edwards was born Jackson Co. IA at 15 Sept 1862. She lived with her parents in Jackson Co. until her marriage to Elijah Edwards at Maquoketa, IA. on 12 Oct 1878. To this union six children were born; John M Edwards, Clara Edwards, Laurence Edwards, Eugene Edwards, and Mrs. Flossie Pease of Niobrara. George died in infancy. After their marriage they moved to Kansas by covered wagon and farmed for about a year, coming to IA by covered wagon and settling on a farm near Correctionville. For about 50 years they lived on farms near Correctionville, then they retired and came to town to live. Her husband preceded her in death on 30 July 1944. Mrs. Edwards was a member of the Methodist Church. She was a good mother and wife, and today her children have the memory of a devoted mother ever solicitous of her children. In the closing moments of her life she expressed her religious faith, and in that faith she passed away. She is survived by two daughters., Miss Clara Edwards of Correctionville, Mrs. Flossie Pease of Niobrara, NE., three sons, John H, Laurence J., and Eugene E., all of Correctionville, 23 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren. IA., occupation; housewife; Father and Mother's name unknown. Informant: Leslie Edwards of Cushing, IA., Date of death: 21 Aug. 1947, 5:45 a.m. She had been under the care of Dr. Cauley of Anthon, IA. Cause of Death: Cerebral Hemorrhage, burial, 8-23-1947, Correctionville, IA.
