"Goes Quickly --Again the dreaded death angel, suddenly and unexpectedly entered our midst Tuesday morning and claimed as its victim Eli Edwards at his home in First Ward. Mr. Edwards has not been in robust health for the past year or so but was around as usual Tuesday morning. He had been working in the yard his wife noticed he seemed to be sick so she assisted him to the house and called the doctor but in a short time he had passed beyond human aid, death being due to heart trouble. Eli Edwards was born, and lived practically all his life in Jones Co. near Monmouth until in Jan. 1919, when he moved to Maquoketa. He was born 13 Mar. 1853. In 1876,(10 Jun ) he married to Miss Eunice Dague who died in 1881. To this union three children were born, one dying in infancy. The two living are Mrs. Anna Trimble of Waterloo, and Frank Edwards of Monmouth. In Sept 1885, he was united in marriage to Miss Linna Gee and to this union four children were born, two dying in infancy. The two living are Delbert and Albert Edwards of Monmouth. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, four children, and eight grandchildren, two brothers; Isreal of Onslow and John of Ozark. two sisters; Mrs. M.S. Round of this city, and Mrs. Nancy Edwards of Iron Hills. The funeral was held this morning with the Woodmen in charge. Rev. D.F.
