Note: Funeral services were held Monday, 27 Nov 1978, at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ, Correctionville, for John Henry Edwards. Mr. Edwards passed away on 25 Nov. 1978, The service was performed by Steve Steele, minister of the Church of Christ. Organist was Dean Cockburn with his songs. "The Old Rugged Cross, and Beyond the Sunset." sung by Murmurs. Lee Smith. The Pallbearers were grandsons, Larry Edwards, Gary Waldman, Rick Edwards, Dauane Edwards, Steve Dreismeier and Donald Heath. Bonnie Creek and Charlene Hatley had charge of the flowers and Frank Fey arranged the cars. The final resting place was the Correctionville Cem. John Henry Edwards son of Elijah and Lucinda Edwards was born 6 Oct 1879 in a sod house in Kansas. He came to Iowa in a covered wagon at the age of two. He was a resident of Woodbury Co. for over 70 yrs. He passed away Nov. 25, at the Valley View Home in Correctionville where he had resided for the last 8 yrs. He had reached the age of 99 yrs, 1mos,19 dys, He married Julia Livermore in 1899, they were the parents of 12 children and at one time during WW II they had five sons in the service. Mrs. Edwards passed away on 25 Aug. 1960 after a long illness. Beside his wife, he was preceded in death by five children: Mrs. Ada Heath, Alvin (Chummy), Kyle, Russell and Delbert. He is survived by 2 daus.
