Note: Thomas Nathaniel and his brother William and Edward and their families came to Manhatten Island, now new York City from Wales. Thomas purchased land, but at that time, although land was purchased at a price, title was not absolute unless acknowledged by the Crown of England, generally accorded in recogition of service to the Crown, and it was for Thomas' services rendered to the English Government during the French and Indian Wars that the Crown recognized Thomas' purchases and him absolute title thereto. At the beginning of the Rev. War. Thomas Senior, although, very old was active in supporting the English Government and became personally responsible for goods brought in New York for the British Army. He remained a true British subject to his death. Thomas and his two brothers came to America c. 1740/50. it was claimed that Thomas Nathaniel gave the first lease directly to Trinity Church in 1744, which was about the time records show he arrived in this county. ("Andrew Edwards, Rev. Sol., by Mabel Scruggs Sommerfield, 1969) Married on 12 Mar 1714, Lleanymyceck, Wale (Paper certified by A.L. Rice, Rector, 29 Apr 1878 from Church Records. However correspondence with the present Rector, states the old records are no longer legible enough to verify.
