George C Redfern, 72, longtime Butte area rancher, died in a local hospital Wed. Mr Redfern who had operated a ranch at Nine Miles since 1929, was born in Twin Bridges & had lived his entire life in Southwestern MT. Prior to going into the ranching business he was employed in Butte by the American Express Co. In 1917 he married Leoma Guay in Butte. Survivors besides his widow are sons, James, Phillip, Francis, Ray & Clayton all of Butte, Ralph, Burbank, CA.; Thomas, Roswell, NM; brothers Verne & Ed both of Missoula; sister Mrs Mary Kingsbury, Silver Star. 32 grandchildren also survive. Requiem Mass will be celebrated Fri at 11o'clock in St Ann Church. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited inthe church Thurs at 7 o'clock.
