Note: Subj: re Herman M. Date: 07/04/2000 6:08:29 PM Eastern Daylight Time From: lenjac@@inwave.com (Leonard Jacobs) To: Earleneann@@aol.com Hi! I noticed your mention of Herman Mammenga. (I thought the name had an e in it, but I guess not.) My father worked as a hired hand for Herman at Paynes Point just before World War One. If memory serves correctly, Herman had a step-son or a foster son (Robert?). I'm not related to Mr. M. but I am curious if you have found any descendants. (I don't know of any.) Leonard J. Jacobs Subj: Paynes Point Date: 07/06/2000 8:51:37 AM Eastern Daylight Time From: lenjac@@inwave.com (Leonard Jacobs) To: Earleneann@@aol.com Hi! Paynes Point has about 8 houses and is about 6 miles east-northeast of Oregon, Ogle Co. Illinois or about 18 miles south-southwest of Rockford, Illinois. Herman's farm, at that time, was the first farm, on the north side of Brick Road, west of Paynes Point. P.P. was named for Aaron Payne who was wounded in the Black Hawk War.
