  Charles Peckham Charles E. Peckham, 76, of Bremerton died July 29, 2001, at Evergre en of Bremerton. He was born March 25, 1925, in Newport, R.I., to Reginald and Nellie ( O'Brien) Peckham. He attended school in Rhode Island, graduating in 1942 f rom De La Salle Academy and later from New England Technical Institut He served in the Marines from 1944 to 1950, achieving the rank of corp oral. He worked from 1949 to 1959 at Penn State Ordinance Research Lab. He t hen was a torpedo specialist at Naval Undersea Warfare Center at Keypor t, from 1959 until retiring in 1966. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include his companion, Shirley Peckham Foss of Port Gambl e; two sons, Christopher of Bremerton and Stephen of Kingston; two daughte rs, Colleen Gainey of Bremerton and Caroline Burgh of Suquamish; a brothe r, James of Newport; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He w as preceded in death by a son, Robert D.; and a brother, Larry. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. today at Forest Lawn Cemetery. A rrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
