  His name might have been John Sims Earl.
  John Earl III, lived in Smythe County, Virginia - Seven Mile Ford. I found him in the 1860 Virginia Census.
  In the 1810 Census, John Earl is living in Granville County, North Carolina.
  In the 1850 Smythe County, Virginia Census, District 60 Reel M 432-976 23 851 there is a John Earl, 64 years old, male, white, farmer. Fanny is 73. Sarah Rice, her sister, is living with them. Lemuel and Barbara are living next door. Lemuel is 35. Barbara is 36. Lemuel's last name is also recorded as "Earls."
  John and Fanny might have had a son named Henry. More research is needed to verify this.
  In the 1800 Census, there is a John Earle living in Rutherford County, North Carolina. page 108. Is he related to us?
  In the 1840 Smythe County, Virginia Census, there is an Elizabeth Earle a few people above John (Jack) Earl.
