information on Samuel Tubbs.
"Genealogy of Tubbs Family of Luzerne Co., PA", by Arthur R. Mandeville.
Samuel Tubbs II, son of Samuel I and Mary Willey Tubbs, was baptized at New London on July 16, 1672. He was a farmer and married Elizabeth Lay who was born December 18, 1681 at Lyme, CT, a daughter of John Lay and his wife, Sarah. It is assumed that they were married about 1698 because the first child, Samuel Tubbs III, was born September 15, 1699. Samuel (1699) died at about age 40.
Inventory of his (Samuel 1699) estate was taken about November 16, 1713 and was granted to his widow of Lyme January 12, 1714. His widow, Elizabeth, married a second time to Robert Staples who died October 9, 1750. It is not known whether they had nay children.
Elizabeth Lay Tubbs Staples married a third time to Jonathan Beebe, born 1674 and died October 12, 1761 in East Haddam, CT.
Elizabeth died October 18, 1782, aged over 100 years, probably at home of her son, Simon. She is buried in Lower Cemetery, Falls Village, CT with the following gravestone insciption: "This monument is to perpetuate the memory of Simon Tubbs' aged mother".
