LORENE A. BRINKMEIER Madison, Wis.--Lorene A. Brinkmeier, 90, of Madison, Wis., formerly of Orangeville, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004, at Donald and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center in Madison. She was born Aug. 28, 1914, in Norfolk, Neb., the daughter of Emil and Elisa (Fuhrman) Franz. On June 10, 1939, Lorene and Weldon W. Brinkmeier were married. Mr. Brinkmeier died Dec. 8, 1996. Lorene attended Appleton High School in Appleton, Wis., and graduated from Lakeland College in 1936 with a bachelor of arts degree in education. She taught in rural Stephenson County schools. Mrs. Brinkmeier was a member of Orangeville United Methodist Church. Weldon and Lorene spent more than 50 years on their farm near Orangeville. Her strength of character helped her in her long journey battling Parkinson's disease. Despite the difficulties, she never complained and always had a smile for those around her. She is survived by two children, Brian (Lois) Brinkmeier of Blue Mounds, Wis., and Barry (Rose) Brinkmeier of Lodi, Wis.; her grandchildren, Stephanie (Ted) Straus of Lodi, Brad (Leanne) Brinkmeier of Sun Prairie, Wis., and Kristi (Wade) Romberg of Appleton; three great-grandchildren, Rachel and Jack Straus and Will Brinkmeier; and a brother, Norbert (Phyl) Franz of Chilton, Wis. Preceding her in death were her husband, Weldon, and a brother, Gerald Franz of Grand Rapids, Mich. The funeral will be held at noon Tuesday at the Chapel of Peace at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport with the Rev. Richard Horst officiating. Visitation will be held after 11 a.m. at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be given in her name to Don and Marily Anderson HospiceCare Center, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway. Arrangements were made by Leamon Funeral Home.
