Note: THOMAS BRINKMEIER Lena--Thomas Dow Brinkmeier, 58, of Lena died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, at OSF St. Anthony Hospital in Rockford. He was born July 29, 1943, in Freeport to Raymond "Pete" and Phyllis (Dow) Brinkmeier. On July 3, 1965, he and Joyce E. Lorenz were married in Freeport. For 34 years he worken in production control at Kelly-Springfield Tire Co., retiring in 1999. He also was employed at Noller's Supermarket where he worked in the produce department. His hobbies included Civil War re-enactment, auctions, collecting antiques and watching high school basketball. He greatly enjoyed watching his grandaughters particaipate in their sporting events. Surviving are his wife, Joyce of Lena; one daughter, Cathy (Chris) Mutschler of Tinley Park; two granddaughters, Amy and Erica Yeager of Lena; one brother, Bruce (Terri) of Barrington; one sister Julie (Ken) Beach of Freeport;; two nieces, Emily Beach and Lydia Brinkmeier, two nephews, Adam Beach and Pete Brinkmeier; and his mother-in-law, Caryl Lorenz of Freeport. Preceding him in death were his parents, R. "Pete" and Phyllis Brinkmeier, and Alfred Niemeyer; and one son, Steve Brinkmeier in infancy. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Lena United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Bullmer officiating. Burial will be at Lena Burial Park. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Leamon Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., in Lena. A memorial fund has been established.
