  MARRIETTA SCHANEY Freeport--Marrietta J. Brinkmeier Schaney, 79, of Freeport died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004 at Freeport Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. Born Dec. 20, 1924, in Freeport, she was the daughter of Isaac and Lillian (Smart) Hoffman. She married Don Brinkmeier April 27, 1944. He preceded her in death. Marrietta married George Schaney in 1978. He also preceded her in death. She worked for the Stephenson County Sheriff Department for 20 years, retiring as a correctional officer, and was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and Eagle Auxiliary. Surviving are her sons, James (LInda) Brinkmeier of Pearl City and Randall (Rita) Brinkmeier of Freeport; stepchildren, George (Rose Marie) Schaney, Jr. of Lena, Corke (Debra) Schaney of Freeport, Penny (Robert) Houck of Freeport and Laurie Jones; four grandchildren, Tammy (Kurt) Baldauf and Tina Cheeney, both of Lena, Jeremy Brinkmeier of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Chet Brinkmeier of Pearl City; 11 stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; son, Daryl; five brothers; and four sisters. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Walker Mortuary with the Rev. John Hollis of First Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Walker Mortuary.
