HELEN E. NEEBEL FREEPORT--Helen E. Neebel, 84, of Freeport died Monday, June 2, 2003, at Carroll County Good Samaritan Center of Mt. Carroll. Born Dec. 2, 1918, in Loran, she was the daughter of Henry and Ethel (Mooney) Brinkmeier. She married Allen Neebel in March 1937. He died in January 1967. She worked at Burgess Battery until retiring in the early 1980's. Surviving are three grandchildren, Ronda (William) Bumphrey of Mount Carroll, Michael (Katrina Hoist) Neebel of Stockton, and Lori Neebel of Freeport; daughter-in-law Jackie Neebel of Freeport; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Ronald and Donald Neebel; three brothers; one sister; and her special friend, Emerson "Pete" Schnell. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of Peace at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 1 p.m. Wednesday until time of service. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
