Note: MICHAEL MOONEY DEAD ___________ A highly respected resident passed away today at noon. Been ill three weeksHis disease was bronchitis and pneumonia--he came to Freeport in 1860 Michael Mooney passed away at 12:15 o'clock at his home in the Wheel factory addition. He had been ailing for several weeks and was confined to his bed the past three weeks with bronchitis and pneumonia. The deceased was born in Kings County, Ireland, 70 years ago. In 1860, he came to America, settling in Freeport. He was married to Isabelle McLain in this city. They conducted a farm in Harlem township until a few weeks ago when on account of ill health, Mr. Mooney retired and came to Freeport to live. In addition to his grief stricken wife, Mr. Mooney leaves to mourn his loss five children. The are: Mrs. Edward Brown, of Pearl City: William, Patrick, James and Michael Mooney, at home. He also leaves a brother, Edward Mooney, in Carroll county. Mr. Mooney was one of the most highly respected residents of Stephenson county. He was very successful as a farmer owing to his good management. He was fair in all his dealings and gained friends wherever he went. He was a good hearted gentleman, a loving husband and an affectionate father and he will be greatly missed in this community. He was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Mary's church. No arrangements have yet been made for the funeral.
