Note: Freeport Journal-Standard, Thursday, December 15, 1988 pg. 2 WILLIAM MOONEY William W. Mooney, 60, a Freeport businessman, of 20 Hillview Lane, died Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 14, 1988, at his home after an extended illness. For over 20 years he operated the Gamble Store. Then he owned and operated Mooney Grocery Store, Mooney Corner Kitchen Restaurant and the Mooney's State St. Tavern. He was a Navy veteran. Surviving are three sons, Steven and Mark, both of Freeport, and William of Fulton; a daughter, Jeri (Mrs. Douglas) Broge; and his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Meyers, all of Freeport; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Chapel Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Theodore Andrach, pastor of the Evangelical Full Gospel Church, will officiate. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established.
