At five o'clock they were both awake and talked together for a little while. Mrs. Mooney fell asleep again. Waking up about six o'clock she found Mr. Mooney dead. Dr. J. R. Porter was called and pronounced it heart failure. Mr. Mooney was about 60 or 65 years old. He lived on a farm nine miles west of town until two years ago when he moved to town on account of poor health. For the last two months his heart troubled him considerably, but he was down town last week and stated that he felt pretty well. No arrangements for the funeral have been made at this writing. Freeport Weekly Democrate, Friday, May 18, 1900, p. 4 Edward Mooney, for years a well known farmer in this county, passed away suddenly in bed this morning. The gentleman's wife was very much surprised to find her husband dead, and a physician was summoned, and his life was pronounced extinct. Heart disease was the cause. The deceased, who has relatives in Freeport, was quite well known in this section, and his death is sincerely mourned by hosts of friends.
