Note: Listed in the 1920 census (Suffolk Co, city of Boston, roll 738, bk 2, page 43). Granddad William J. McLaughlin II and his family Nana Elizabeth Agnes(Dunn) McLaughlin, her daughter Mary Louise Sullivan, and their daughter Aunt Rita (age 2) lived at 23 (?) Sammet St, Malden, Mass. His occupation is listed as a dispatcher for the railroad. Listed in the 1930 Census. Living on 83 Bloomfield St., Dorchester, Mass. The McLaughlin family consists of William (41), Elizabeth (42), Mary Sullivan (20), Rita McLaughlin (12), William McLaughlin (10), and Doris McLaughlin, my mother, age 6. William's job was listed as a train dispatcher for the railroad. They rented the home they were living in for $45 a month. William died in 1938 after being ill for about 6 months. I was told by my mother that William got blood poisoning from a nail that came through his boot. By the time he noticed the infection it was too late to save his leg, which had to be amputated. After a visit to the hospital to visit William in early January 1938, Mom and her mother returned home only to have a neighbor who had a phone tell them to return to the hospital immediately. Granddad died just after they had left to return home. He had been a life long employee of the railroad.
