Note: Edna was named for a friend of her father's. She had green eyes. She started school 09/1919 at Mill Point Country School (5 mo.), then Spring Street School (3 yrs.), Aycock School (2 yrs.), Junior High School, Greensboro Senior High School (1928-1931) and was in the first class to graduate from that school, & Christ Hospital School of Nursing (3 yrs.). She first worked as a Private Duty & Night Nurse on Obstetrics, Jersey City, NJ, from 1935 - 1940. She then worked as office nurse for Dr. C.M. Gilmore & Dr. J. Fred Merritt from 1940-1965, and then as charge nurse on the 2nd floor, Wesley Long Hospital, Greensboro, NC. Edna retired in 1973, and was on Inactive Status with the NC Board of Nursing as of 11/30/1977.
