Withdrew 4th Sat. in Feb 1921" (02/26/1921), copy of pages from CARAWAN family Bible, sent by Donnie Neese CARAWAN COHN; early schooling was in Pamlico Co., NC, & further educated at Whitsett Institute, Guilford Co., NC, where he graduated with outstanding honors in 1910; taught in public schools of Pamlico Co. for a number of years & then was manager of the Vandermere Supply Co.; was called to serve in WW I but was honorably discharged early due to to the needs of his family; was manager of Maribel Supply Co., then employed by the Bank of Pamlico, & later by Maxwell Wholesale House of New Bern where he worked until his death; leader in many civic movements, serving as city clerk & on school board while in Oriental; member of the Baptist Church, Shrine & Masons (funeral memorial sent by Donnie Neese CARAWAN COHN); buried in Carawan Family Plot, Cedar Grove Cemetery, New Bern, Craven Co., NC (from Robert F. Cohn, Jr.)
