Note: This information is furnished by Erma Adams Roberts------I wrote this down when I was home the summer of 1998. Homer was not well but his mind seemed good so don't know how right the facts are: Born 1915 South of Tioga near Rose Hill,Iowa,WhiteOak twp.Mahaska Co. 1917 Lived N. Lake Keomah corner-turn R. over the hill near the River, I can remember going to the Curriers Mill to grind the grain. 1919 Moved to Frank T. Nash farm--which I think was N.& W. of Currier Hill. I started school here, which was probalily was Monroe twp. 1923 Lived 1mile E. of Mauch Chunk in Monroe twp. 1928 Moved to Spring Valley called the big place-folks lived there several years,thats where Erma was born in 1932. 1929 When to work for Vane Hoover-13 or 14yrs old. I then went to O.W. Gay. 1933 Folks moved E. of Rose Hill, the old Lundy Place--Helen and Ralph Hicklin lived across the road. The entire Family had Scarlet Fever at this house 1937 The folks moved to the Mah-Keo Co. line-East of Rose Hill,Iowa I was working for Gay's, got married to Eva Knox and moved N. Wright,Iowa---also worked for Howard Wymore and E. Lott. 1938 Spent some time in Waterloo,Iowa--1st child Marian was born 1939 Moved to house between Rose Hill & Oskaloosa,Iowa near the Skunk River. Phyllis was born here. 1940 Worked for Clark Truck Line. 1942 Went to work for Wakes Feed Mill, and moved to house on N. H. Street. 1944 Moved the Cabin to N. H. Street, still working at Wakes. 1942 Bill was born. 1944 Went to the Navy, got a medical discharged and went to work for Railroad as a fireman for 6mos.--Jim was born. 1945 Mildred was born stillborn. 1947 Moved to Wakes Farm S. of Eddyville, Sally was born here. he's not real sure about this. 1951 Moved to Truax,Iowa --went to work for Eddie Protho Coal Mine. 1952 Steve was born and was hauling coal for Art Hiser to the Eddyville Power Plant. 1953 Bought a new truck and still hauling coal to the Power Plant. 1959 McKinley Coal Mine, west of Oskaloosa, Iowa---and they moved 1960 TO Evans, Iowa, and became a dragline oiler for Peabody Coal Co. 1961 Bought a trailer at Cedar, Iowa, & went on the road for Mott Const. Co. 1971 Bought a house in Rose Hill,Iowa--near where Granddad Sarvis old house was. 1973 Eve died. 1978 Retired from Mott Const. Co. and met Letha Neilson, we lived at N. D. Street in Oskaloosa, Iowa--Bought the house at 917 S. 1st . He took his nap and we never got back to his life history again, but I know he had lots of good times with his tractors and Letha.
