Notes
a. Note:   Mary's father, Thomas Malcolm, was in the Civil War in the 7th Michigan infantry, Co. "C." He was born in Aberdeen, Scotland. Mary told of being descended from the Malcolm Kings of Scotland. The Malcolms were well known in Williams County, Ohio, and had a church, a school, and a cemetery named after them. All three may be seen on Highway 20 just East of Highway 49 in Williams County, Ohio. She was sick for about a week before her death and died at the Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan after a major operation. Her funeral card lists her as being from Alma, and her obituary says that she had made her home in Alma for many years and resided at the Maher farm near Elwell at the time of her death. She was listed there as a housekeeper and cook. She was a member of the LDS church and a Mormon minister officiated at her funeral. She is buried in the Warren Cemetery in Coleman, Michigan.
