Notes
a. Note:   Alexander Malcolm was a skilled horticulturist and gardener in his native land of Scotland. He and the rest of his family came to America after their son Archibald had already made the trip, and they all settled near each other in Huron County, Ohio. Alexander and his wife Barbara did not move away from the old homestead with their sons later on, but instead remained in Huron County where they lived out the rest of their lives. Alexander taught the horticulture and gardening trade to his son Archibald.
