Note: Archibald came to America alone and his parents and the rest of the family soon followed. They located in Huron Co., Ohio where he married Lucretia Mahan, the daughter of natives of Ireland and New York state respectively. Archibald and Lucretia remained in Huron County until 1854 when they came to Norhtwest Township, Williams County, Ohio. They first settled on 141 acres obtained form the US government. He eventually became the owner of three hundred and twenty acres of land, much of which was cleared fro cultivation under his personal supervision. he became a citizen of considerable influence in the local community and was one of hte most successful and prosperous farmers in the county. he served as Township Trustee, Treasurer, and land assessor, and wielded coniderable influence in local affairs. As an act of public generosity he made a contribution of land as sites for a church, a public school, and a cemetery on what was known for years as "Malcolm's Corners." Only the cemetery remains today and may be seen on highway 20 near Route 49 in Williams Co., Ohio. The Malcolm cemetery is the place of final repose for him, most of his family, and many close friends and neighbors.
