Note: Charles L. East, 78, of Melbourne, Florida, died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at Ho lmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne. He was born Feb. 6, 1925, in Murphysboro, Illinois, son of Jeff and Aurelia Young East. East was a graduate of the former St. Mary's High School in Cape Girardeau. He was a retire d master sergeant with the U.S. Air Force, and also retired from McDonnell Douglas in St. Lou is. He was a member of Ascension Catholic Church, American Legion Post 163, Elks Lodge 1744. Mr . East was a storyteller extraordinaire and a volunteer with Daily Bread. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Betty; two daughters, Nancy Dukeman of Melbourne, an d Sandi Trosset of Key West, Florida; two brothers, J.J. and William East of Cape Girardeau . Missouri; a sister, Betty Dougan of Cumberland, Maryland; four grandchildren; and a great-g randchild. A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at Ascension Catholic Ch urch in Melbourne.
