Note: Joseph Rist, 83-year-old retired teamster, died at 11:40 this morning (10/10/1954) at his home, 321 North John street, Mascoutah, of a lingering illness. Mr. Rist was born in Paderborn, Illinois, Nov. 24, 1870. He married Agnes Brendel Young in Mascoutah Nov. 23, 1909. She died Oct. 19, 1944. He is survived by a son, John Rist, and two daughters, Misses Viola and Mary Ann Rist, all at home; two stepsons, Medor Young of St. and Julius Young of Mascoutah; two brothers, John Rist of Okawville, and August Rist of Mascoutah; and two sisters, Ida, wife of Joseph Bauer, of Belleville, and Mary, wife of Gus Hommel, of Mascoutah. He was proceeded in death by a stepdaughter, Aurelia East; a step-brother; a brother, Anton, and a sister Elizabeth. Mr. Rist was a member of the Holy Name Society and the Catholic Knights and Ladies of Illinois. The body is at the Moll funeral home, where funeral arrangements are incomplete.
