They entered this country at New Orleans andsailed up the Mississippi River on a flat boa t to St Louis, Missouri.First they settled in French Village, then moved to a farm two milesn orth of Mascoutah. Katherine had a brother that came to St Clair Countyfour years previously . Undoubtedly he influenced his sister and herhusband to leave Europe and come to America. Bo th Martin and Katherinewere buried in the old Catholic cemetery two miles west of Mascoutah . TheSherrer family may have been from the area of Arzviller, France.
