a. Note:   Mr. John Brendel, the well-known farmer, died at his home, about 5 miles east of here, at 4: 30 o'clock, p.m., on Wednesday, January 26th, 1898, aged seventy-years and six days. Deceased was born in Johannesburg, Altbayern, Germany, and came to this country in 1864. I n 1865 he was married to Miss Anna Blank. Eight children were born to them, of whom one die d and seven remain to mourn their father's death, viz.: Barbara, wife of Mr. George Riess; Ca therine, wife of Mr. William C. Weber; and Agnes, George, John, Joseph, and Conrad Brendel, w ho are unmarried and still at home with their mother. Deceased also leaves six grandchildren and two brothers. The funeral took place last Friday morning. Services were held in the Catholic church by Rev . Father Pieke and internment was made in the Catholic cemetery.--The Mascoutah (Illinois) He rald, Feb. 2, 1898.
