  Cape May Courthouse-Services will be held Friday in Linden for Raymond C. Matthews, who died Monday in Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital here. Mr. Matthews contracted pneumonia following an injury suffered in a fall while attending the State American Legion Convention in Wildwood. He was the husband of Mrs. Christine Bernauer Matthews. A native of Hazleton, Pa., Mr. Matthews lived in Elizabeth most of his life, moving to Edison three years ago. He retired eight years ago as a truck driver for the Gore Freight Company, Newark, where he was employed for 10 years. He served overseas with the Army in World War I and was a member of the John Russell Wheeler Post 1397, Linden and Linden Post 192; American Legion. He was also a member of Newark Local 478, International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Surviving also are a son, Raymond, Jr of Spotswood: two daughters, Mrs. Catherine Bierilo of Carteret and Mrs Ruth Kirznauski of Elizabeth; two brothers, Arthur of Avenel and Wesley of Plainfield; a sister, Mrs Katherine Murphy of Linden, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Interment Rosedale Memorial Park.
