Murphy Linden-Joseph H. Murphy, Jr. 81 died Monday in Memorial General Hospital, Union after a long illness. Born in Elizabeth, he lived in Linden 30 years. He retired in 1962 after 28 years as a mechanical operator at the Exxon Co.'s Bayway Refinery. Mr. Murphy was a communicant of St. Elizabeth R.C. Church.He was the husband of the late Mrs. Catherine Matthews Murphy, who died in 1976. Surviving are a son, Joseph H. of Elizabeth; a daughter, Mrs. Alice Jarvais of Elizabeth; a brother, Edward R. of Spring Lake; three sisters, Mrs Elizabeth Erm of Gillette, Mrs Ruth Degutis of Basking Ridge and Miss Gertrude Murphy of Miami, Fl., three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Interment MT. Olivet Cemetery.
