Note: can Rev olution. Miss Lillian Cole of Bellview, IA joined the DAR on his record. She was a cousin of Jacob Cooper, who wro te the diary. She entered in 1904. Lillian Cole's file is #47108: says Eustacy born 1750 and died 1821; fat her is Jacob Cooper (1727-1781), and that Eustacy was a private in Gener al Picken's Brigade, South Carolina service. He was born in PA; died in U nion, SC The 1790 Census Index for Union Co., SC lists Stacie Cooper on page 40, Di strict 96. Will filed in Union County, SC 11-16-1821 From the Union County Heritage (found on Ancestry.com) THE STACY COOPER FAMILY 138 Stacy Cooper, born about 1757, came from Buc ks County, Pennsylvania to 96 District, South Carolina, with his parent s, William and Lydia Cooper, and family in or prior to the year 1771, t he date his father William, wheelwright, received a 200 acre land grant T he family were Quakers and settled near Padgett's Creek, a branch of Tyg er River, near Black Rock in the southern part of present Union County. T he area is now a part of Sumter National Forest. Stacy had brothers Jacob,William, Nathan, Samuel, Jeremiah,Jonathan, Dav id and Joseph, and sisters Sarah and Hannah.Stacy served as a private in G eneral Pickens' Brigade during the Revolution. Around 1785 Stacy married T abitha Pearson, a daughter of Enoch and Tabitha Pearson. The children of S tacy and Tabitha were William, Hannah,Samuel, and Margaret (married Willi am Cole). Stacy's homeplace was on the old road leading from Adam's Fo rd on Tyger River (and Cook'sBridge) to Black Rock, to Stacy Cooper's, Rog erPotts, Daniel Lipham's and Bookton's Ferry on the Enoree River. Some oth er neighbors to Stacy were James Townsend, Gabriel Phillips, Ralph Hunt, R ichard Minton,Jonathan Whitten, and Clarks. Tabitha died in the 1790's a nd is believed to be buried in the old Pearson Family Cemetery at the Junc tion of State Road 44-18 (Old Buncombe Rd) and 44-16 south of Union. Before 1800 Stacy married Elizabeth Townsend. Their children, all bo rn in Union County, were: Jesse, born August 16, 1800, died March 16, 186 7, Paulding County, Georgia,married Rebecca Darby, daughter of Benjamina nd Mary Runnels Darby; Aaron, born about 1802, died 1832, married Elizabet h; Moses,born 1806, died August 11, 1865, married 1838 Jane Neighbors (s ee writeup); Eli, born 1809, died 1857, married Carolyn Hogan;John C., w ho married first a Miss Jenkins who died young leaving a daughter Charlot te (Charlotte was raised by her grandmother, Elizabeth Cooper). John C. ma rried second Sarah Ann Phillips, and John died about 1848 Stacy made his w ill April 17, 1821 which was recorded November 16,1821. He is probably bur ied in the old Cooper cemetery near Black Rock His wife Elizabeth lived f or many years and moved to Paulding County, Georgia,with her son Moses a nd his family about 1853.
