Brothers of Moses were Jesse, born 1800, Aaron, born a bout 1802, Eli, born 1809, and John C The children attended school at Thom as Davis' . Older half brothers and sisters were William, Hannah, Samue l, and Margaret, the children of Stacy and Tabitha Pearson Cooper. Moses married in 1838 to Jane Neighbors, who was born September 19. 180 7. Their children were James Neighbors Cooper, born January 31, 1839; Nath an Cooper, born September 10,1840; John, born 1843: Mary Jane, born Novemb er 7, 1846; Sarah. born February 3, 1848; and William, born about1850 Mos es bought and sold land in Union County, some located on Hamsworth Bran ch and Mitchell Creek waters of Fairforest, and Sugar Creek On March 9, 1 850, Moses applied for a Letter of Dismissal for himself and his wife Ja ne to the Baptist Church, known as Putnam Baptist Church, Cane Creek and U nity or Brown's Creek, and also Fairforest Baptist Church, which was grant ed them. By 1853, Moses and his family had moved and settled on Pumpkinvine Cre ek in Paulding County, Georgia. Their youngest son, William,died during t he journey to PauldingCounty. Moses' mother, Elizabeth, and Charlotte, t he daughter of John who was deceased (Charlotte married William Henders on in Paulding County) moved with Moses' family. Moses' brothers Jesse a nd Eli and their families also settled in that county. On May 31, 1861, Moses and his sons, James N and John enlisted in the Conf ederate States Army in Atlanta, Georgia. Moses was in the First Batt le of Manasses in Virginia where he died and was buried in the Confedera te Cemetery in Warrington, Virginia, His wife, Jane, died December 7, 188 4, and her tombstone is in the New Georgia Baptist Cemetery,10 miles sou th of Dallas, Paulding County, Georgia. The children of Moses and Jane all married in Paulding County. Nathan, bo rn September 10, 1840, died June 24, 1898, married September 7, 1858 to Ma rtha Francis Coon. John, born 1843, married about 1866 to Mary "Sis" Whea t. Mary Jane, born November 7,1846, and died July 1, 1922, married Decemb er 27, 1865 to NT. Bullock. Sarah, born February 3, 1848, died 1907, marri ed William Berry Cole My great-~randfather, James Neighbors Cooper was bo rn January 31, 1839 and died March 12, 1901, married September 13,186 0, to Lucy Ann Hitchcock, daughter of John and Mary Roberts Hitchcock. J im was a teacher, and ordained Minister of the Church of Christ, and a far mer. He and his family moved to Indian Territory (now Bryan County, Oklaho ma ) around 1890. Several members of his family are buried in the Pleasa nt Hill cemetery near Caddo. Cornelius Cooper, born March 8, 1867, died No vember 10, 1927, son of James and Lucy Ann Cooper, married Susan Ellen Tho mpson in Bryant County, where their son, Oscar Levi Cooper, my father, w as born January 26, 1895. Per Civil War Database on Ancestry.com, Moses Cooper enlisted in the Confe derate Army - C Company, 7th Infantry Regiment, Georgia, on May 31, 186 1, as a Private. He fought in the First Battle of Manassas in Virginia, a nd then died of disease shortly thereafter, on August 11, 1861. No indica tion of where he is buried.
