M. Easterwood, Co. G. Private J. M. Nunnelee, Co. H." 7/4/04 e-messge from Martha Kirkley Curry (mkjrcurry@aol.com) provides extensive information on George Marion Easterwood. "He was in many important battles during the Civil War. Notes from my grandmother, Sarah Virginia Rotton White "At the Battle of Manassas Mr. Easterwood saw the famous General Bee shot down from ambush. At Gettysburg, he commanded his regiment as fifth Sargent, his superiors having been killed in the engagement, he was wounded twice at Sharpsburg and was in the hospital at the end of the war." "The names, dates and places of birth for their children I got from Sally Montgomery". "This is a copy of part of the e that I received from Sally Montgomery on 9/18/2000. I have tried to contact her since that time and did not receive a reply." "George Marion Easterwood, b. 11 Feb. 1840, Coffordsville, Lowndes Co, Miss, d. 14 Nov. 1925, Conway, Faulkner County, AR. Married on 15 Jan 1847 to Martha Elizabeth McCraw, b. 23 June, 1947 in Pontotoc, Miss., d. 26 Feb. 1934, Conway, AR. Their children Charles b. 7 Jan. 1869 Born & died in Miss. They moved to Conway, AR from Pickles Gap rather early and spent the remainder of their lives in Conway. I understand that he has a bad leg as a result of being wounded at Gettysburg. He was a Justice of the Peace in Conway for many years. Only two of their children lived to marry and have children: Clarence and Bessie. Clarence has two sons, both deceased and three grandsons ond one granddaughter. Two grandsons live in Shreveport, one has died, and the granddaughter was living in Fort Worth, TX the last I heard. If you are interested, I can give you more information on these decendents. I really need to update my records as well. Sarah Elizabeth [Bessie] who married James Alexander Montgomery had six children, including my husband. There are many grandchildren and greatgrandchildren and I can send you that information if you like."
