(my maternal grandfather)...and our family always said Jeff's parents were Prior Anderson Smith and wife Rachel J. (maiden name unknown until recently when we learned it was Burk). Both Hugh and Jeff lived after 1885 in northeast Texas. Hugh in Hopkins Co, Tx by 1877, later Rockwall Co, Tx; Jeff in Hunt Co by 1885, short time in Rockwall Co, and later in Fannin. Have pics of both Hugh and Jeff (in their 40s) and their families. It is believed their father Prior A.
