Hi Dave Lovely to hear from you again. I've passed your E-mail address onto to Mike so he'll probably be in touch with you soon. On going through my paperwork recently I came across your E-mail dated 6th July 2005 asking for information regarding William Brown. I'll try and put as much information down as I have found. First, where do you get the information that he was born in1814 in Ireland. The only mention I have of him is on Charles's birth certificate. William was married to Catherine Blackwell who I think was born around 1820 in Rochester, Kent. Charles was born on 12th July 1862 in Poplar, London. The first census I have found them in is the 1881 where I have Catherine Brown born about 1816 in Rochester living with her son, Charles Robert born about 1863 in Poplar, both living at 8 Cobholm Terrace, Great Yarmouth. In 1891 Census I have Catherine and Charles living in Mold, Flintshire, North Wales. Charles is married to Edith and they have four children, Jessie, Ernest, William and Edith. I have now found a marriage of Charles Robert Brown and Betsy Heath in December Quarter 1894 in Poplar so I am presuming that his first wife, his mother and two of his children died between 1891 and 1894. I think his mother died in 1893 in Chester district and Edith aged 1 died in 1892. I probably need to get copies of the certificates to prove his marriage and these deaths. I have also found the death of a William Charles Brown aged 12yrs in 1898 in Preston which fits William's age. I know that my mother-in-law only remembered Jessie and Ernest. I think I have found Jessie in the 1901 Census living in Gillingham as a mother's help. I was also told that she had married a Reginald Palmer and I have found a marriage which could be them in June Quarter 1903 in Strood, Kent. I'll have to get the certificate to confirm this. You put down a Charles R. Brown as a possible child but Charles died in 1905 so this cannot be his child. Ernest emigrated to America and I remember him coming over to see my mother-in-law, his half-sister about 1960. He lived in Cincinnatti, Ohio. His wife was called Elsie and they had two sons, Harold and Charles. I think Harold was a chemist and Charles was in the army. My husband had two sisters, Denise and Eunice. Denise who was born in 1924 married John Burnett and they live in Beaconsfield near London. They have one son Mark born 1960. Eunice born 1926 and died 1963 married Ronald Margerison and they had four children, Denise, who you already know, Judith, William and Eunice. My husband, Frank Ivan, and I had five children, Anne, John, David, Andrew and Philip. I hope this fills a few gaps for you and I'm sorry I didn't get back to you before now. Bye the way what is the name of your web site. I think you have told me before but I can't find it. Too much paperwork! Have a nice day. love Beryl.
