a. Note:   Served in the French war. A blacksmith by trade. Had a farm a mile north of Epping, NH near the Governor Plummer estate on Oak Hill. Epping records: "In 1760, Capt. Joseph Chandler's cattle mark was a crop of the left ear." A highway surveyor in 1763. March 14, 1774 chosen as parish clerk. January 2, 1775 chosen one of committee of inspection and correspondence for the parish of Epping. Captain in the revolutionary war. July 22, 1776 meeting of New Hampshire Committee of Safety states: "Gave Southampton soldiers leave to join Capt. Chandler's company." Died in war at Mt. Independence. Estate inventory exhibited by wife on January 29, 1777. Value amount of over 849 pounds. On February 25, 1778 wife exhibited another value over 272 pounds
