Note: #379 Spent his childhood in Addison cty, VT and prepared for college in the academy at Middlebury and entered college there graduating in 1829. In 1880 his Alma Mater conferred him the degree of D.D. and about then received the degree S.T.D. from Trinity College at Hartford, CT. Ordained to priesthood at Marblehead, MA in 1834 performed in St. Michael's Church by Rev. Griswold bishop of New England. He served as rector in churches of MA, CT, ME, NY, VT, KS, MI & in Canada. A democrat with prohibition sympathies. A member of the Masonic order to the Commandery at Montpeier, VT and filled position of Grand Prelate of the Grand Commandery of VT for 2 years. Took Commandery degree at Saratoga, NY. Took the 14 degrees of the Scottish Rite Masonry as member of the Lodge of Perfection. For several years held fraternal relations with the I.O.O.F. 1884 moved MI and became pastor of the Holy Trinity Mission of Benton Harbor until June 1891when he retired with 57 years of pastoral work. Then went to visit his native home and suffered a slight stroke of paralysis. He returned home to MI. In June 1895 he suffered another stroke and never recovered from it.The following September he fell and broke his ankle. A great Hebrew scholar, well versed in Greek & Latin.
