a. Note:   #464 Graduated Dartmouth College in 1816. Taught at Bellefonte, PA for 1 year. Read law with Judge Samuel Prentice in Montpelier, VT & at Litchfield, CT law school. Began practice in 1820 in Castine, ME. Moved to Pittsburg, PA and became partner with Professor Morse (inventor of the telegraph). Went to Europe in the interest of the firm & drowned in the Danube when his boat was upset.
