a. Note:   During the French and Indian war in September 1754 he was one of Capt. John Chandler's company of scouts.in 1755 he was sergeant in Capt. Joseph Eastman's (his brother) company of Rangers who marched to Albany, then to Fort Edwards in the expedition of Crown Point. September 1762 he was on of Capt. Marston's company at Crown Point. Early in the revolution he enlisted as sergeant, on April 23, 1775, for 3 months and 16 days, in Capt. Baldwin's company in Colonel John Stark's regiment. He was with Stark on the 17th of June at the battle of Bunker Hill. In 1775 he was second lieutenant under Capt. Benjamin Emery at Cambridge. Discharged after the evacuation of Boston on March 17, 1776. In September of 1777 he enlisted again in Capt. Joshua Abbott's company in Lt. Colonel Henry Garrish's regiment. They reinforced the Northern Army, too late for the battle of Bennington, and joined the army at Saratoga and present for the surrender of Burgoyne. In August of 1778 he enlisted again as sergeant in Capt. Aaron Quinby's company of volunteers in Colonel Moses Kelly's regiment in the expedition to Rhode Island. He was a signer of the Association Test in 1776 agreeing to oppose the British against the United American colonies. In the Old Fort Cemetery in East Concord, a granite monolith was erected in October 1894 to the memory of 13 revolutionary soldiers buried there. Five (5) of the name inscribed are Eastman's, including Moses and David.
