a. Note:   #733 Learned the carpenter's trade of his father. Bought a farm at 21 years. Moved to WI then Cleveland, OH as a dairy farmer. He started with 14 cows and soon had 125 cows. Began buying & selling cattle and his business grew. Moved to NY in 1859 and stated the "Eastman Company." Was the first man to sell fresh beef to England in 1875. Late in life he returned to Croydon, NH and built a home near the river.
