a. Note:   Of Peacham, Caledonia County, Vermont, USA. His will at Governor and Council of Vermont vol iv pg 105. Volunteered in army in 1775 served as orderly sergeant in the invasion of Canada. One of 9 out of 70 to survive. Took part in battle of Trenton, NJ. Returned to NH at discharge. Re-enlisted when Burgoyne invaded and was in the battle of Bennington, VT. About 1781 moved to Peacham, Vt as clerk of proprieters of the town, holding office 12 years; justice of the peace 24 years; town representative 12 years; chief justice of Caledonia County 17 years; councillor of the state 7 years; Lt. Governor from 1813 to 1815; delegate to the Constitutional Convention from 1791 to 1814; and presidential elector in 1800. Member of congress 2 terms 1803-1805 and 1809-1811. Received title of General from commissions he held in the state malitia from Major to Major General. Revolutionary record on NH rolls in vol i pg 194, 305, 304, & 465.
