Note: #197 Settled in Salisbury, NH about 1797 (first tax paid for that year). For a time leased the Capt. John Webster mill on Chance brook (now Franklin) and then purchased the mill adn 300 acres of land from Bailey Bartlett (of Haverhill, MA) for $775. Date on deed is August 27, 1803. Gifted land to society where the Congregational Church of Franklin, NH stands, as was the school lot "given for educational purposes". Prime mover in getting the town of Franklin incorporated. Built tavern on the site of the Webster house.
