a. Note:   #772 His last words to his daughter were, "Be just and kind." First learned the shoemaker trade of his brother Ebenezer in Concord, NH from 16 to 20 years of age. Was a clerk in Boston, MA. Because of failing health was appointed on the city "watch" March 11, 1850. When the police superseded the old "watch", May 26, 1854 he was attatched to that department. Was sgt of police, 3rd station after 1870 with 28 years total service.
