a. Note:   Obituary from the Monday, September 19, 1983 Waterville Morning Sentinel [Kennebec Maine] **John Bucknam, Oakland--John L Bucknam, 69, died unexpectedly, Saturday evening in Canaan. He was born in Oakland, August 31, 1914, son of Oscar and Mary Garland Bucknam. He was employed by the Maine Central Railroad from 1935 to 1973 and was shop steward for the Brotherhood of Blacksmiths and Boilermakers. He was a member of the Getchell Street Baptist Church Get-U-All Baraca Bible Class, Waterville. He was a former member of Siloam Masonic Lodge, Fairfield. Surviving are his widow, Gladys Eastman Bucknam of Fairfield; five sons, John Jr. of Oakland, Robert of Clinton, Ronald, Steven, and David of Oakland; three daughters, Joyce, Helen, and Ellen, all of Oakland; one brother, Leighton of Oakland; one sister, Ellen Wheelock, of Oakland; 21 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two nephews. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, 10 am, at the Getchell Street Baptist church, Waterville. Friends may call today from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M., at the Wheeler Funeral Home, Church street, Oakland.
