a. Note:   Obituary from "The Morning Sentinel" Waterville, Maine 12/29/1992--Gladys M. Bucknam, 74, died Monday morning at a Waterville nursing home following a long illness. She was born in Lewiston, Dec. 4, 1918, daughter of O. Roland and Myrtle (Stevens) Eastman. She attended Waterville High School. She was a member of Ernest A. Rutter Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She was a member of the Getchell Street Baptist Church in Waterville, where she was an honorary deaconess, taught Sunday School, and Bible School. She helped start the Pioneer Girls and played the piano. Her husband, John L. Bucknam, died in 1983. Survivors include five sons, John Jr., Ronald, Steven and David, all of Oakland, and Robert of Clinton; three daughters, Joyce Pelletier, Helen Bridges and Ellen Weeks, all of Oakland; her stepmother, Ella Eastman of Waterville; three brothers, Robert Eastman of Fairfield, Walter Eastman of Casco and Donald Eastman of Baltimore, Md.; seven sisters, Helen Starbird of Auburn, Evelyn Maheu of Canaan, Rose Micue of Clinton, Phyllis Cory of Sidney, Florence Eames and Wilma Eastman, both of Waterville, and Roberta Brown of Terryville, Conn.; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 7-9 P.M., Tuesday at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Oakland. Funeral services will be held 1 P.M., Wednesday at the Getchell Street Baptist Church, Waterville.
