Note: In Jefferson County Marriage Book 1, page 160, is the following: Samuel Hutchins or Hutchinson to Louisa TERRY. Louisa is of legal age. Her father: Joseph Terry. License: 17 December 1824, bondsman, Joseph Terry. Marriage: 23 December 1824 married by Robert Gailbreath. Witness: Robe Tyler (Robert Gailbreath was a licensed Baptist minister)
Joseph Terry's wife was named MARY. Samuel and Louisa (Terry) Hutchins are probably buried in the Hutcherson/Hutchinson cemetery off Barricks Road. This area is just south of the Terry/McCawley/Pharris land holdings..
The Terrys were from Virginia, as were the McCawleys. Their lands were just north of Samuel Hutchinson's land along the Blue Lick Road in southern Jefferson County and just north of the Brooks area in Bullitt County. A McCawley cemetery is adjacent to the Eastview Church Cemetery on Blue Lick Road. Terrys are buried here as well as in the Pharris/Farris Cemetery across the road. Much of these old cemeteries have been destroyed. The graves at the Eastview Church are in pretty good shape. The other cemeteries are on private property and not easily accessed.
Three of Joshua and Polly (Pharris) McCauley's daughters married into t Terry family. All are Jefferson Co. marriages.
Elizabeth McCawley married 22 June 1823 James Terry Sally McCawley married 8 October 1827 Joseph Terry Margaret McCawley married 3 June 1830 John H. Terry
The McCawley name is also found spelled McCauley.
The 1800's letters signed by a J. J. Terry (to John and Julia Easton) may be Joshua J. Terry who had a wife named Nancy. See 1860, 1870, and 1880 census for him in Jefferson County. In 1880 J. J. and Nancy Terry are listed on the same page as John & Julia Easton. In 1870, J. J. Terry and Nancy are living one household from Samuel and Louisa (Terry) Hutchinson.
