Grave/Memorial Reference: Panel 11 to 14 and 162. Cemetery: TYNE COT MEMORIAL Son of Mr and Mrs Joseph Spalding, East End Armadale. James enlisted in August 1915, prior to enlisting James resided with his parents at Marchbank cottage Armadale. James was first reported missing on the 10th October 1917, then after no word was heard he was reported killed on that day. James Spalding appears on The United Collieries Limited, active service roll 1914-19, this shows him as being employed at Armadale Colliery
